LITANY OF MOTHER EARTH TO MAN
Mother Earth said and Man replied.
Mother Earth: Kindness for all the creatures great and small.
Man: All mine to subdue, to kill, and how else they can be of use.
Mother Earth: Take if you must only what you can consume for a day.
Man: All I can shoot that fly in the sky to hoard up for the other days.
Mother Earth: Pick from trees only the ripe fruits you can eat free from threat of illness.
Man: All that my hands can reach to carry in sacks and mine is the way to ripen them.
Mother Earth: Free flowing water from the streams for you to not thirst, among other uses.
Man: All that I can siphon and divert for maximum gains.
Mother Earth: Minerals in bounty to keep the underneath solid.
Man: All mine to dig, to blast, to extract and restructure for ornate displays of power.
Mother Earth: Trees with massive roots and gigantic crowns to shelter, to feed, to protect.
Man: All that I can kill and clear from the land I want to own for my sole use.
Mother Earth: The Sea so deep, so infinite that all may partake from its bounty without borders.
Man: All I am able to catch from the nets I cast; but nay from the pens I stake in the open seas.
Mother Earth: I fill the land, the air, and seas that every man may be fed and sheltered.
Man: All that I can claim even if it's more than I will ever need.
Mother Earth: There is the Sun that you may harness the power of its rays.
Man: All that I can invent to show you I am better than the sunlight.
Mother Earth: The Moon to light the dark while you rest from a hard day's work.
Man: All the hours I can keep awake even when night takes over I will not rest.
